WINNERS at Woodlands Community Primary School!

I returned in my lunch hour on 9th December to Woodlands Community Primary School in Tamworth for a prize giving on their Christmas jumper day.

On my last visit we set the Key Stage 1 children a design challenge to win their own signed copy of The Adventures of Poppy and Lord Ted and certificate – their task was to design a new Christmas outfit for Lord Ted which was judged by the school librarians; they were more excited at the thought of being judge’s.

And the WINNER is Harriett, seen here with the four librarians who chose her winning entry, her certificate and Lord Ted. It’s not always possible to show the faces of children publicly, but I can assure you she was beaming in this picture, even if it’s a bit blurry.

The KS2 years were set a writing challenge to also win a signed copy of the book – they needed to write a story on any subject.

Years 3 & 4 were judged on their story structure and the WINNER is Jacob seen here with his book of choice, certificate, and Lord Ted. A fabulous story and a worthy winner – let’s hope this sets Jacob on a path of hard work to be the best he can be – I look forward to his first book!

Years 5 & 6 were not only judged on their structure but how they edited their final submission. The WINNER here was Kieran with an amazing entry where the character murdered his teacher! Gulp! A brilliantly written piece and another worthy winner. Kieran is seen here with his book choice, certificate and of course, Lord Ted

Well done, Harriett, Jacob, and Kieran!!

I also delivered another £2000 worth of books for their library, so when the librarians returned this week, they were busy sorting more books.

What a wonderful school, amazing teaching staff and incredible children who are a credit to the school and their teachers – thank you for making me feel part of the Woodlands family again.
