Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Platinum Jubilee on our extended bank holiday weekend in June, so Lord Ted and I celebrated our own way, in style with boily egg and soldiers – what better way to observe such an occasion than with a quintessential English breakfast!
The queen and key members of the royal family play a major part of The Adventures of Poppy and Lord Ted, especially the second book due out in October, so this is a special day for us here at Poppy and Lord Ted HQ.
There was a lot of activity in our village too. The UK has a long history of organised street parties to celebrate national events and this one was very special. Queen Elizabeth II is the first British monarch in history to celebrate 70 years on the throne. Over 15 million of us attended street parties in Her Majesty's honour from the Friday to the Sunday.
After two years of being separated from family and friends, it seems we were more than ready for a neighbourhood knees-up and the weather held for us too.
