What an incredible evening we had at our book launch event at my local village in Hilton, Derbyshire on 15th October.
Over 130 people packed the room from across the country – from local towns and villages and as far away as Birmingham and Somerset!
Many of the teachers I have worked with came to support me as well as children and their families to either receive a book as a finalist or winner of the character competition or to queue for ages to buy a signed copy.
The evening opened with an emotional speech from Mrs. Sabir, a teacher from Bells Farm School in Birmingham followed by book presentations; how amazing to see them so excited by the second story.
I was supported by Tracey, known as Mrs. Music, who designed a tune for the children to sing while they were waiting and Eric Moorhouse, who’s only 8, selling his handmade bookmarks to raise money for families in the Ukraine – Eric has already raised over £2,500 for this great cause and raised over £100 on the night too.
A big thank you to Rachel and all our friends who gave up their Saturday night to help with tables & chairs, cakes, drinks, and photographs – I am very grateful.
The evening was a fabulous success… Thank you everyone!
